On receiving an enquiry we invite a prospective client to come to our offices for a preliminary consultation. The purpose of this consultation is firstly to establish whether we are able to assist with the prospective client’s needs and objectives and secondly to discuss how we would be paid for our services should we be instructed to proceed.
There is no charge for this preliminary consultation and no obligation on either side.
After the initial free consultation, we will agree with you the projects we are likely to undertake for you and the cost of any service or advice we are going to provide and how you will be billed for this. You will then instruct us as to which projects you want us to proceed with and if more than one in which order.
For all investment and pension advice the fee we charge will be agreed prior to us commencing any billable work. This will be itemised in a Client Fee Agreement specifically drawn up for you. This will also outline if any fees are to be billed to you or any of your investments. Invoicing an investment may be more tax efficient in certain instances- we will discuss this with you.
For non-investment advice we can either charge you a fee or be paid out of the cost of any financial product you purchase (commission). If we are going to charge you a fee we will agree this fee with you prior to commencing any billable work. We will always tell you about any commission we earn. There may be instances where we will receive commission and charge you a fee.
Fees will usually be based on time spent, the complexity of the situation and the scale of the project.
Commission is paid to an IFA firm by product providers for placing business with them. The commission is included within the provider’s normal product charges, so there is normally nothing you need to pay us in addition. The amount of commission is based on a percentage of the premiums payable and the term of any payment period.
Our standard Fee structure for mortgages is:
A Fee of £250.00 for remortgages and £400.00 for purchases payable on submission of an application. We may also be paid commission from the lender.
A Fee of £250.00 for remortgages and £400.00 payable at the outset and 0.35% of the mortgage value payable when you apply for a mortgage. Any commission or fee that we receive from the Lender will be refunded to you.
